Triad Challenge
A Paradox Games event with a new format.

April 21 Paradox Games hosted a new kind of Big Game event. The Game will consisted of 3 teams on a very large field with 3 flag bases and one centeral base.
This was play similar to an SPPL game but on a much larger field with 3 large teams.
The objectives are simple and clear. Control as many flag locations for as long as possible.

Here's how it went. I'm guessing that there were about 30 per team (about 100 total) when things started. Of course, the numbers dwindled as the day went on (hence the need to move the JR group around). The area laid out would fit on our field (If we used every square inch). That made it a lot of fun. LOTS of close quarters fighting. The terrain is a lot more varied out there so we were able to use some of it - a big gully - to our advantage for the final third of the game. It allowed us to 'capture' and then defend the center flag without being too exposed. All I can say is that we kicked A$$ when we needed to. Jake organized us for the final assault. Rob and I stayed back and used our heavy firepower to defend our base flag, freeing up the rest of the team to capture the center (high scoring) flag. I wish I had a video camera to capture Thoms 'suicide' (but successful!) run to turn the center flag to our side. Then it was a matter of keeping everyone else away - which was done with DEADLY effeciency! As I stood to the rear, more than once I saw an 'enemy' player rush towards flag only to dissapear into a colored cloud; caused by being hit by so much paint.

My hat is off to Allen (and Dan) for creating such a fun game. I sure hope we have the opportunity to play it a lot more. There are SO many variables (you can never be sure what the other two teams are going to do) that it never gets boring.

Greg Dalby ended up getting the team's vote for D.E. Event MVP.
